Jazz Pianist, Pascal Le Boeuf is currently a student in jazz performance and composition at the Manhattan School of Music. In the past few years he has earned international recognition for performance and composition. In 2003, Pascal was awarded the ASCAP-IAJE Commission in Honor of Quincy Jones for Emerging Composers under the age of 35; at 16, he was the youngest artist to receive this honor. His composition, a suite entitled Where There's Smoke, premiered at the IAJE Conference in New York, January 2004, where his quintet featuring Remy le Boeuf, Chris Potter, Jon Benitez and Marcus Gilmore received a standing ovation. Both Pascal and his twin brother, Remy, were recognized in the 2004 and 2005 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards for musicians under 30, and were the two selected to play on the bill with Marion McPartland at the awards ceremony at ASCAP in New York in 2004. In 2005 they were featured in “JaZzCap,” ASCAP's Emerging Composer Showcase in New York. In the spring of 2005 they participated in the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency Program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Compositions from their latest CD, “Migration,” have garnered awards in the International Songwriting Competition, the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards, and the 2005 DownBeat Student Music Awards. His compositions have been played by New Music Works Sound Horizons, as winner of Cal-Poly's All-State Jazz Festival Solo Competition and during his tenure at the 2003 Brubeck Institute Summer Colony.
Before their migration to New York in the fall of 2004, Pascal and Remy were chosen by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) to attend ARTS week in Miami in January of 2004. They were then honored as Clifford Brown – Stan Getz Fellows by the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE). In February, they were members of the 2004 Gibson/Baldwin HS Grammy Ensembles and performed with Chick Corea, Kurt Elling, Clark Terry and Gerald Wilson. In April, their quintet won the 34th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival H.S..
Pascal has played with several different groups at jazz festivals in Japan, Ottawa and Montreal. He has played with his combo at numerous California Central Coast venues notably the Monterey Jazz Festival, the San Jose Jazz Festival, the Stanford Jazz Festival. Pascal is currently developing his musical skills under the direction of Kenny Barron and Mike Abene in New York. Back to Group Biography
